Join us for a special afternoon wine tasting with António Picotes, cutting-edge winemaker from Trás-os-Montes.

Born and raised in Sendim, in the Planalto Mirandês near the Spanish border, António is a civil engineer by training and a winemaker by instinct. He has returned to his family’s old field-blend vineyards, carefully restoring his grandfather’s traditional cellar and preserving its granite lagares for foot-treading and natural fermentations. His first experimental wine was made in 2019, and since 2020 the range has quietly expanded, guided by consultancy from Fred Machado and Ricardo Alves of Arribas Wine Company.

Working across two distinct micro-terroirs, the high-altitude vineyards of Termo de Sendim at 700 metres and the sun-exposed granite and schist slopes of Arribas at 550 metres, António crafts wines that are expressive and rooted in place. All vineyards are currently in conversion to certified organic cultivation.
