Native Breed: Maronesa Supper Club
Carnes Irmãos Unidos
Join us at Bar Douro London Bridge for the first supper club of its kind celebrating Maronesa, one of Portugal’s most distinctive native cattle breeds from Trás-os-Montes.
We are excited to welcome Carnes Irmãos Unidos, a family with deep roots in the region, owners of talhos (butchers) and farms in Carrazedo do Alvão in Vila Pouca de Aguiar, Northern Portugal. Led by João and his uncle André, the family specialise in mature native-breed cattle of exceptional provenance, championing the distinctive flavour of the Maronesa breed.
Earlier this year, Bar Douro founder Max Graham and Executive Chef Neuza travelled through the Trás-os-Montes region, meeting producers and exploring the landscapes and food culture that continue to inspire Bar Douro. This dinner is a direct reflection of that journey and a rare opportunity to experience one of Portugal’s most exceptional breeds in London.
The evening will spotlight Maronesa beef from the Serra do Alvão, prized for its rich flavour and beautifully marbled meat. In a UK first, Carnes Irmãos Unidos will export their beef exclusively for this event, offering guests the chance to taste these exceptional cuts outside Portugal for the very first time.
Guests will enjoy a five-course menu featuring a series of snacks and sharing plates exploring different cuts and preparations, culminating in a prime Maronesa steak centrepiece showcasing the full expression of the breed.
A celebration of Portugal's Northern region, craftsmanship and outstanding produce.
Tickets are £95pp.
